SharePoint Skinner tool… just what the doctor ordered…

Written by Cornelius J. van Dyk on . Posted in Blog

If you remember back to the days of SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 i.e. “old” SharePoint, then you’ll remember James Milne wrote a tool called SPSkin, basically a skinner for SharePoint. I had been hoping he would update it for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS) and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 i.e. “new” SharePoint, but alas he hasn’t.

Instead, Doug W. (from Atlanta) over at Elumenotion has gone about creating what I believe to be the very first skinner for SharePoint 2007. Check out his SharePoint Skinner Tutorial and DOWNLOAD your copy today! A worthy download…

You’ve got to MAKE time for the *new* SDK’s!

Written by Cornelius J. van Dyk on . Posted in Blog

If you’ve not already made time to download, install and look at the new (version 1.2) SharePoint SDK’s, you’ve got to be sure to make some time. Lots of good stuff including the all new Microsoft Business Data Catalog Definition Editor! The BDC Editor is similar to BDC Metaman, but I haven’t had time to put the two through their paces to see which one I’d prefer. For the time being, I’d have to say the familiar BDC Metaman would be my choice, but then again, BDC Editor is free. (Sorry Nick).

Anyway, the point is that if you’ve not had time to look at the new SDK’s, you’ve really got to MAKE time for it!

You can get them here:

MOSS 2007 SDK download and online

WSS 3.0 SDK download and online

OK, so it took me a week to get the pictures out of my phone, but Amy and I went to the Bryan Adams concert in Indy on 8/9/2007. We had a blast! Bryan Adams is always great live!

An ABSOLUTE must read for all bloggers… Copyright explained…

Written by Cornelius J. van Dyk on . Posted in Blog

If you blog, you’ll run into copyright issues at some point. Most people get very irate when you copy their work and with good reason as it takes many hours creating original content and only minutes to copy it. This article is an excellent read for anyone who blogs.

Thanks to Dustin Miller for passing it along…
